To Whom It May Concern;
"Profe" Lauren Finaldi is a Spanish teacher at
Joliet Catholic Academy, but she is so much more than a Spanish teacher!
My daughter entered Joliet Catholic Academy in 2011 and
"Profe" was her first Spanish teacher there. "Profe" recognized that my daughter
is a little more introverted than most students and really went above and
beyond to reach out to her. She was the first
teacher that my daughter felt she could go to with issues about ANY class, not
just Spanish. This has continued through
my daughter's time at Joliet Catholic- even now if she needs advice she seeks
out Profe Finaldi. Now that I think
about it, that is true for me as well- if there is something going on at the
school that I don't understand, the first person I contact is Profe. She has helped ME with some issues at the
school.
It is easy to see that a lot of students feel a kinship with
"Profe" Finaldi. At school
events there are always students talking with and laughing with her. Not only is she an excellent Spanish teacher,
but she is an outstanding mentor and leader for the students. They feel she can relate to them without
being judgmental.
Profe Finaldi takes her vocation out of the classroom as
well. She is the coordinator of an
exchange program with a school in Spain, and in the years that the exchange
program takes place, Profe puts in countless hours outside of classroom time
organizing both the students from Spain coming to Joliet, AND the students from
Joliet going to Spain. In the weeks that
these visits take place, she is involved 24 hours a day with the oversight and
care of all of the students, activities, and schooling. She has changed so many kids' lives with this
program, and the students involved talk about their experiences for years
afterwards.
It is easy to understand why so many of the students at
Joliet Catholic Academy love to have Profe Finaldi as their Spanish teacher,
and why so many look to her for guidance outside of the classroom. She is understanding and caring and non-judgmental. I am thankful that Profe is there for my
daughter every single day, and I am positive there are many other parents of
students at JCA who feel the same way.
Sincerely,
Amy Ernst
