Step-Daughter Visit

Profe's step-daughter, Diana, who is 10 years old, came to shadow Profe at JCA.  She has been doing this for the past several years and really enjoys it.  In the past, she would pass out candy when we played a game, but this time she came prepared with her own lesson plan!  She showed the class what disasters can  happen when you rely on an online translator.  She demonstrated this by showing the classes a video of the popular song, "Let It Go," from the movie, "Frozen." In this video, the song lyrics had been put through many different languages in a translator app, then changed back to English.  For example, instead of "Let It Go," the main line of the song was now "Give up", which clearly is not the intended meaning!

Before going home that day, Diana left a note for the classes to read the next day (see below).

Throwback Thursday!

Do you recognize the young lady in the traditional Sevillana dress?

If you guessed Profe Finaldi, you are right!  This was taken when she stayed with a family during a short term exchange program with a school in Huelva, in the Provence of Andalucia in the South of Spain.  Her host brother's name was Maximiliano Navas Garateo.  They still keep in touch on Facebook!

Flyswater Fun

Mary Nahas, '14 has a shadow visitor, who happens to be her sister!
It's a battle between Erinn Sharp and Kevin Jensen, both class of '14, Spanish IVH.

They are struggling...

Looks like Erinn found the word first!!!
Now Caroline Bender battles her buddy, Nina Clevinger.
Does Ninas look in the photo below mean she won?

Now, Mary Nahas takes on Ysa Lozano, '15

Next it is Mary  up against Chris Korst, '14.  Looks like Chris found it first!

How about this pair...Dan "Bo" Randich, '14 vs. John '14?

Is that the look of a winner or a glare of defeat?
