Pilsen Trip with EPIA

 

Profe Finaldi started the day in her classroom, teaching the students a little bit about the history of the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago.  We took a bus to the Mexican Art Museum and looked around.  Then we got into groups of four or five students, making sure each group had some JCA members and some EPIA members, and we had a scavenger hunt for items that could be found in the many murals. 

 

Following that, we had a typical Mexican lunch in a typical Mexican restaurant, which happens to be owned by the family of Oscar Reyna, who accompanied us on this excursion.

Chicago Trip with EPIA

 

 

Several JCA students, along with Profe Finaldi and our 23 guests from Escola Pia Vilanova, took a bus tour of downtown Chicago.  We had beautiful weather to travel to the top of the John Hancock, stroll around Millennium Park, grab a bite to eat at Navy Pier, and much more. 

 

EPIA arrives at JCA!!!

JCA students and families gathered to greet our 23 guests from Escola Pia Vilanova i la Geltru.  After flying into O'Hare, the group was transported via bus to JCA, where we were anxiously awaiting their arrival!

 

 

After introductions, the students went to the JCA football game!

National Spanish Honor Society President

 

Juan Diaz, '16 is this year's National Spanish Honor Society President.  When new students are inducted in February, he will conduct most of the ceremony.  Congratulations, Juan!
